i've been checking for a long time a layout/scheme for a metal muff and have'nt found any

i've heard the metal muff is a big muff + gain booster + active eq

well i dont care
i wanna get a metal muff

can anyone help me?

The Metal Muff scheme is around; I've seen it turn up every once in awhile. The distortion circuit is nothing like a classic Big Muff; it's all opamps and diode clippers and filters - probably has more in common with a Boss Metal Zone than a real Big Muff. The Boost is a nasty-sounding treble boost circuit that I hate. Have you tried one? Seriously, I thought the distortion sounded cool, but the Top Boost or whatever sounded totally shrill and useless. If I were to build one, I would either totally ignore the Top Boost circuit, or modify it to be a full-range boost that isn't shrill.

If you don't care what's really in it, won't any pedal do? Just call it a "metal muff" and you're done.  :icon_biggrin:

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

A metal muff is under $100 IIRC. There isn't much reason to try and build one yourself

Naz Nomad

You're probably right ... £54 ($105) ... hardly worth trying to wrap your mind around the schematic.
