Tremolo popping sound with pulse

Hey all, I have a Rocktron Tremolo which was working fine until I plugged it in today.

Now I get a popping which goes along with the speed of the tremolo. These trems use a LED for the tremolo, its almost like when that turns on and off it causes a pop in the signal.

The tremolo still does it's thing, it just has an annoying popping sound with it.

Any ideas what could cause this in the circuit?

  Power supply?
or lack of PS filtering ?
Since you say Rocktron I figure it worked great once, something changed...inside or out.
  How old is it ?

ayayay!

I'd say check PS too.  In nearly all these threads with ticking/popping/hissing, on time-based products,  I always say try it, isolated (guitar -> pedal -> amp) with a KNOWN good 9v battery and see what happens.  Switching power supplies and daisy chained effects are the culprits so much of the time, so the battery test is always the very first thing I check against.  If that's not it, then you now know and you've isolated one part of it.
