I just got a non-working '81 Small Clone for $10 and need some help troubleshooting.  It passes signal when on but there's no chorusing.  I've discovered that one of the 2N5088's gets physically hot to the touch when power is applied, so I'm thinking the problem is in this area.   Using the tonepad schematic as reference, http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=97 , it's Q3.  I tried a new tranny and it didn't help. I can't see anything obvious such as a solder bridge or anything. The previous owner said he took it out of storage after a few years and it just didn't work anymore.   Anybody have any ideas about what could be causing this transistor to heat up? Could it just be a bad nearby cap or resistor?

I'd guess a bad electolytic capacitor --which don't like sitting unused for years.

Yep, it was one of the 10uF electrolytics off Q3.    It's working fine now.  I'm thinking I may as well go ahead and replace all the electrolytics.
