Haha! My abomination is getting some heat! It gets used daily...

I suppose I could clean her up a little bit... Nah ;D

Now when anyone asks how to rehouse a boss/ibanez pedal, you have permission to use the image as your response.

@smooth:

i like the way you carefully placed it on bubblewrap just in case it scratches... ;D

Gotta protect my beautiful gear ya know?

Don't think of it as a pedal disaster - think of it as theftproofing.  Who is going to steal the pedals in this thread?  Some beautiful swirled or etched pedal is just asking to go home with someone else.  Love the dead halibut finish.  I gotta do one like that.

I wanna play! I wanna play!

Back in the early days of messing with all this, I had more enthusiasm than talent.  Now I have slightly less enthusiasm and the same level of talent.  Also, I've put on about 30 pounds.  Nonetheless, I present to you the Anklebiter, an LM386-based amplifier:

Gut shot:

Things to note:

1) Corrosion-resistant Sterilite(tm) cabinet.
2) MBMS- Magnetic Battery Mounting System.
3) Why yes, those *are* household lightswitches for on/off and gain 20/200
4) Super high-tech custom 6x9 driver
5) Perf-board usage approx 15%
6) Pony bead standoffs
7) Resilient Cross-stitch grid speaker grille, rated to 139mph, 451BTUs or 22kg, whichever comes first.
7.5) Made in USA of domestic and imported componentry.

I eventually took the speaker out of it to pair it up with the Phaeton Tub Twin 50W Sound Reinforcement System:

Butt shot:

1) Dual custom 6x9 drivers
2) Accented with luxurious imported Brazillian Mahogany shelving paper
3) Switchable between 4 and 8 ohm operation
4) Stunning bookmatching
5) ....

Meanwhile, I think the first thing I built was my prototyping station:

Which, believe it or not turned out pretty decently.  In retrospect I would have made it about half that size (it's overkill for most stompboxes or Forrest Mimms circuits), but it's pretty cool.  The switch controls power to the board, and the studs around the breadboard are interfaces for electromechanical devices (pots, switches, etc) via the aligator clipped leads.  That's a beer in the cup, which might give you some understanding to my design issues.

I just realized I never posted my Little Angel build (V1). This was supposed to be a temp build, but I've been using it like this for a few years. The wiring underneath is a complete mess, but it works  :)

Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!

I have more effects "temporarily" housed in DAT/Other backup tape cases with 2PDT toggles on them than I do in aluminium....

Ghettohead.

You can see an ordinary momentary switch and a 3mm red LED.

first attempt at a diy enclosure.

the walls were too thick to mount any hardware...

drilled one hole, realized it was in vain, and threw it under the rip saw.

found it almost a year later and thought you good folks would get a cheap laugh.

now its all metal enclosures for pedals, and maple panels for the synth stuff.

the cardboard and plastic enclosures are so funny!

this thread is good for cheap (very very cheap) laughs.

thnx

duck_arse

speaking of cheap, that looks like most of a classic birdhouse.

GGG Jordan Bosstone kit. Bought a box off the bay, misapplied drill template. Cover holes with stickers. To top it off, it worked a couple times then quit. I gave up on troubleshooting pretty quick. Picked it up a few years later checked voltage, checked continuity, rechecked everything, redid all the solder, changed out trannies. Nothing going... Finally decided to isolate the circuit from as many parts and possible cold joints as possible. Finally got it working. There was a bad lug on the 3pdt. It works now and it's a nice fuzz/octave to play around with!

It's hard to see but there are at least 5 extra holes.

I just got into this whole pedal diy thing. My first project was a Muff kit, and I wanted to engrave the name...

didn't turn out to well:

So ended up covering it up with a waterslide decal on a piece of veneer.

Later on I found this weird knob inside an old sewingmachine that I ended up using for this to give it a more fitting industrial look.

*edit* sorry, the pictures turned out to be quite big, I scaled them down a bit.

deadastronaut
