I'm building the Real Mctube, but finding it hard to get a fair few components in australia. The power supply calls for two 33uf 160v caps, however i can't get this value even at a higher voltage, unless in bulk. I have a couple of Photo Flash Caps, used in disposable camera circuits to power xenon globes, the caps i  have are rated at 30v at 80uf could i possibly use these.

Thanks

$1.66 for 25 of them. They have stores in Sydney and Melbourne and also deliver.

I don't know the Real McTube well, but 80uF is way to high and 30v is dangerously low to replace a 33µF 160v. There's no way I'd consider putting up to 160v through a 30v cap...

woops, sorry i meant 330v, my bad. Im pretty sure that it is $1.66 for each cap and the minimum order is 25?? I was only wondering if it was possible to use a different capacitor value ie: 80 uf or 47uf??
thanks

Yeah that price does seem a little cheap to be for 25.
If you have room, you could run two 80µF in series, giving you 40µF. Still not right, but much closer to target.

Let me have a look when I get home; if I have a suitable electro I'll stick it in the mail for you.

Prime Electronics at Bowen Hills in Brisbane have them.  If you're in the Brisbane area, they have a retail shop called Economic Electronics at the same location.

I believe that WES Components in the Sydney area deal with the public, and they stock this capacitor.

If you can't find anyone in your area who stocks these capacitors and any other components for this project, go to my website and use the contact page to send me an email.  I regularly buy from Prime and can probably help.
