Hey,

I just bought another Bassballs pedal from ebay (to mod) and when I plug it in, the first resistor in the V+ line heats to the point of a smell. I replaced it thinking maybe I just had a fluke resistor problem, but even the replacement gets hot. I replaced the electrolytics in the supply thinking maybe I had a shorted cap. No dice. There are no shorted traces and the polarity is correct at the board.

Also I should mention that I am getting no audio out. Not sure where to go with this issue. Maybe the 4558 is shot? Guesses?

Thanks!,

Jay

No. Just the first resistor (either a 47 ohm or a 470 ohm, don't recall currently). I cant locate a short anywhere on the traces so i'm guessing its a component issue someplace.

Thanks,

Jay

upon closer inspection, I found a little odd blob of solder that was shorting + to - on the first Cap in the V+ line. Problem solved. Works great now.

Thanks,

Jay
