As I want to recalculate new values for a hi-fi equalizer to better suit a guitar application
I'm wondering what would be the best Q value for a 7-Band equalizer for guitar 100-3.2k Hz?

As far as I can see most vendors seems to have settled on frequency
100, 200, 400, 800, 1.6k and 3.2k for guitar application.
Anyone tryed to work out different band frequencies for guitar?
Would it make sense to focus these 7 band on i a more narrow frequency span.

thank you!

You are mentioning six bands, 6.4k is missing.  For octave-band equalizers a Q between 0.7 and 1 is adequate.  This seven-frequency spacing is quite adequate for guitar.  If you want less bands, four would be a good number, with bands centered at 125, 400, 1500 and 5000 Hz.  Said frequencies are pretty effective for guitar.
