So I'm diving into the world of building stompboxes and I wanted to ask you guys for some help on what to start with. Mostly I'm gonna do it for myself, my band and for y friends. Not something that I'm looking to make any money at. With all the amazing people making killer gear there's no need for another person selling stuff out there. I'd love to build myself an overdrive or an octave up pedal. Not a octave/fuzz or an octave that takes you lower, I'm looking for something that will take my notes up. I haven't seen any clean octave pedals out there, I mean there's that Micro Pog but it's just too darn expensive. I hope there's a it out there that can help me or someone that has the layout for a one. I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me. I also don't own a vibe pedal right now, that would help me out a lot. A cool chorus/vibe easy build?

The reason you haven't really seen any clean octave up circuits is because from what I understand, most of them are digital.

As for other projects, the beginners (don't let that label fool you- it sounds great) boost is a good place to start.  My first was a TS808, which is still my favorite, big muff... there's a ton out there!

i'll tell you:

if you want nice octave,
try the Psychtar
(here http://www.geocities.com/tpe123/folkurban/fuzz/snippets.html )

stock you get some distortion octave,
back it off (the guitar volume i mean), and dialing the exact amount you get some real sweet octave

WOW!!!!! That sounds so cool! Like a sitar. A little reverb and it would be perfect. I wish I could just buy one. Anyone up for building me one? That would sound great on our new record. I'd give you credit on the album.

I thought you wanted to build something yourself?  ???
People asking members to build something for them isn't something we usually see  :icon_eek:
except maybe a PCB or something... but whole builds?
You should just try it yourself, BlackCrayon!
It's addictive, fun, and it'll make you a better musician as well, as long as you put enough time into it to learn how to use your effects most effectively but not enough time to degrade into a solder sniffing breadboard junkie  :icon_mrgreen:
