electro harmonix frequency analyzer-1496?? wrong pin numbers??

Ok. the schematic i am looking at shows a 1496 can and an 8038.
but when i look up the pin numbers for the 1496 (can) and apply it to the DIP, their schematic makes NO sense. they show the Sine wave coming into pin number 6. Pin 6 is the + (positive) output!!

did they mis-label this on purpose? was there a different brand of 1496 that had different pins? i am all ready to build this except fot that pin numbers so if ANYONE can help, it would be highly appreciated.

Loss, post a link to the schematic. I will compare it to the Roland 1496 RM.

Did you check a 1496 datasheet?

Note: the 1495 has a different pinout to the 1496

yes i checked the datasheet. it uses A 1496 NOT A 1495.

its odd, i checked a few datasheets and unless they are doing something novel (or i am reading it wrong) it seems strange to have the sine wave connect to pin 6 (output) of the 1496.

but maybe i should just build it.

It looks like the part numbers on the schematic you have are incorrect.  I just ran across my Frequency Analyzer schematic with the parts labeled from a vintage unit I repaired.  The Balance Modulator is an AD533JH.  The op-amp above it is a 741, the one at the bottom is an NE4558N.  The voltage regulator is an SG4501N (wouldn't bother.  Use 2 3-terminal regulators).  The Function Generator is an 8038.  Now get your build up and running!

they must have made a few different versions because over at Experimentalists anonymous in the schematic archive (under ring mods) they have a different EH frequency analyzer schematic and IT DOES USE a lm1496...and an 8038

and it works!!

at least it sounds like a ring mod...a nasty one. it adds a weird crunch to everything.
