So....
What makes a 1n4001,1n4002, 1n4003, 1n4007 and so on different?

Next question:
How does the sound in say a (DS1) differ with using 1n4002's vs. 1n4007's?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the only difference between them is the max voltages. I think it doubles with every iteration, i.e. 4002 can handle twice the voltage of 4001, 4003 twice voltage of 4002,etc

Ive noticed some mods call for the 4001 in a ds1 and some for the 4002 or 4003? Why do they differ in choice?

Availability or uniqueness are the only two reasonables that come to mind.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
