Anyone know the pinout for the tranny's?  I can't find it anywhere, and I remember Mark Hammer made a comment about them being different than you'd expect.

Thanks

If theyre like the pill shaped ones I have then the pinout is just reversed from standard. I dont remember exactly though.

I'm not looking for values.  I should clear that up.

Dave, I've heard the same thing.  I just don't know for sure.

If you scroll down there is a pinout....

A bargain basement DMM with transistor testing/checking is a handy thing to have in such instances.  You can simply flip the tranny pins around until you find an hfe reading that seems plausible.  Doesn't do you any good for FETs, but it helps a lot with deciphering pinouts for obscure, unmarked, or defaced transistors where getting hold of a datasheet may be difficult..

Thanks Mark.  I didn't want to mess around with it...  without knowing.  But in the future, I'm all for it.

Can't you also measure for the transistors diodes (cathodes) that point to the base?

You certainly can.

And if the device is installed, I suppose that's the most expedient course of action if you can't or don't want to remove the device from the board.

Of course, I personally have yet to find a DMM that will measure diodes but not also measure transistor hfe, so the simplest thing for an uninstalled device is just to pop it in the meter socket, and flip it around until you get a plausible (and informative) reading.

I found this photo once in another thread...  you've already figured it out obviosuly but this might help folks in the future.
