Aluminum foil acting as shielded cable?

So as some of you know I'm building a parallel distortion box that has many different PCB's in it. I thought from the beginning that noise might be a problem so I tried my best to minimize it (star grounding, crossing +9v at 90 degree angles...). There is still a bit of hum on some of the channels so I was thinking...

Because of the large power requirements for many different boards, I have several lengths of wire +9v wire running parallel to themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that this will amplify the inductive properties of the wire. Sooo.......

Would wrapping the +9v wires in aluminum foil and grounding the foil act as a sort of "poor mans shielded cable"? Do you think this would reduce some of the noise?

IMO, the grounding is more important, and it sounds like you've paid attention to it.  I don't think it could hurt (and will probably help against stray radiation) to shield the V+ lines, grounding only 1 end of the foil.  You'd have to be careful with it so you don't short to anything else, but hey, it's worth a shot if you can't simply route them along 1 side of the enclosure....
