it sounds HUGE when I dig into my strings real hard. the problem is the horrible static and gating when played lightly or when notes decay. listen for yourselves (heavy playing vs. light playing) http://www.theharshcarpets.com/dragonfly_fuzz_sample.mp3

...and here are the schematics: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=64822.0

im using the high gain connection and here are my #'s:
Q1 -  75Hfe
Q2 - 212Hfe

8.33v
Q1  c - 1.35
      b - .586
      e 0
Q2 c - 4.48
      b - 1.35
      e - .820

any help would be much appreciated. thanks!

I know it's not much help but when I tried the high gain connection I had a similar problem.

Seeing as your voltages are fine my guess would be bad grounding or a bad/noisey power supply.

If you can't fix the problem, you still have two options open to you.

1. Play really hard and really fast. Maybe join a punk band. Nobody likes soft songs anyways.

or

2. Leave it as is and find a way to incorporate your fuzzy problem into a song, like Billy Corgan did in Mayonaise with a cheap guitar he bought at a garage sale for $70 that squeeled every time he stopped playing it.

the low gain will give you enough fuzz, believe me. you could also set it to low gain and lower the 4.7k at the input there which will let you drive it harder.

here's what mine ended up sounding like...  :icon_eek:

i like your attitude and i agree with everything you are saying except i have been doing exactly what you are talking about for the last 30 years only because i didnt have the money or skills to do something different. now that i actually have a choice between garbage guitars and pedals that shreik and crash every time a note decays, i would like to take advantage of it.
oh, and ive been in a Punk band since the 80's but thanks!
