Hi,maybe this is obvious to some but can i add a switch to my recently built PNP fuzz pedal which will isolate the battery power without having to bend down and unplug the input jack,if so how would it be done?would it be something as simple as interupting the power to the input jack? any diagrams? i did use the search funtion but can't seem to get anything on the subject, thanks Crawford.

The battery in most pedals is connected to the input jacks "ring" lug.
When the input plug is inserted the battery negative connects to the pedals ground trace and power is applied.
This is a switch itself.
This is done with the red wire of the battery for Positive ground.

If you remove either wire from the battery to the board the circuit will not work.
If you wire a switch so that one way connects power and the other disconnects power then that will work as well.
Personally I would just unplug the pedal.
Having a switch is one more thing to get kicked off and turn the power off for good.

Hi John, thanks for that and yeah i know my big feet would probably hit any toggle thats there, but as i expected it's seems quite a simple task to do,well i'll give it some thought,i'm playing tomorrow night so i'll just remove the jack at the break, thanks Crawford.

Just get a 500k audio pot with the spst or spdt switch on the back. Wire it so when you turn the vol all the way off it clicks and disconnects the battery.

Solidhex, could you point me to a Mouser catalog or wherever you can buy them from? I'd be interested to get one of these!  ;)

They don't come in 500k audio taper. You can just do it with the fuzz pot. Makes more sense since that pot would probably be closer to the input jack. For pnp you'd connect the red (positive) battery wire to one lug of the switch. Then connect a wire from the other lug to the sleeve lug of your input jack.
