Like several others here, I started building (mostly amps) to improve my sound.  It's taken over to the point that....

After all these years, I still have trouble with putting down the freakin' soldering iron and practicing the guitar.

I still never remember which lug is which on a pot, and I'm horrible at figuring out how to wire it from a schematic. Somehow even though I have a 50-50 chance of doing it right, I always do it wrong.

I rarely box up my pedals cause I'm worried about drilling the enclosure wrong and wasting $10.

And mostly, after all these years...I have become so much better at building pedals than actually using them and playing guitar.  :-\

I have found a lot of humanity on this thread that has given me confidence to continue in my quest for the perfect tone! That one day I can build a pedal and say, "That's It! That's the one I've been trying to build for _5 years!" Only to realize that it sounds like poop on any other amp besides my Danelectro honeytone!...This will never end, will it?!?  :icon_eek:
When your life is over, will any of this STUFF really matter?
