Mod a Rangemaster to play nice with other pedals?

Greetings!

We know (at least, I know, having discovered it myself!) that the basic Rangemaster circuit relies on being connected directly to the guitar in order to function correctly. A buffered pedal before the RM makes the RM very thin sounding. So - obvious question - can the RM be modded so that it can be used after a buffer?

Thanks!

There is this thing made from a little transformer, using only one half, that acts like its the output from a guitar. a TM018 from Mouser if I remember rigthly. I've got the schematic somewhere and I'll try and get it into the light so I can scan it. You went in one end of the winding and the centre tap was a single coil output and the end was for humbucker then it was into a pot in series with the output, with a cap to ground, so it was an inductance with a low pass filter which is exactly what any input to a pedal sees from a straight guitar. Entirely passive... just like a guitar. Anybody remember this?
