are there any 9 pin tubes that can run and get decent saturation at 9v power?

iirc 12au7 was designed for 12v.

mac@mac-pc:~$ sudo apt install ECC83 EL84

are there any subminis that run well at 9v?

What size resistor would be needed to take 9v to 6.3v?

2.7 volts / 300ma = 9 ohm
2.7 volts x 300ma = 0.81 watt

So a 10 ohm /1 watt would give 6 volts (within the heater's tolerance) and handle the heat.

Or just use a 7806 voltage regulator.

Sweet , I am gonna use ranks tube as a diode in my ts 808 clone. The real TUBE screamer :icon_mrgreen:

I forget what all was said about just throwing a tube in a TS, because it's that picture near the bottom at GEO 'how to get tube sound in a stompbox' IIRC, it showed a hammer being used to 'fit' a tube in the TS.
Whatever it was, messing about @ low voltage with tubes should be good fun !

You might want to try the 9AU7, which is the 12AU7 sister, only difference being the heater voltage. You can find one darn cheap thru the 'bay...
