referencing this schem...

http://www.freewebs.com/soulkitchen/BURNS%20BUZZAROUND.GIF  Thanks Andrew ;D

What range of voltages should I be getting on the collector of Q3??  It was recommended to use a pot to dial in the 27k(based on actual transistor) before the balance pot, hence my voltage question.  Or phrased another way, how should I settle on a value for the 27k that is tailored to my specific Q3??

AFAIK, this a knock-off of the tonebender mkIII.
In the tonebender, both "stars" are 10k, making the collector's voltage 1/2 Vs (in casu = 4.5V)

are you referring to this..

yep, that's it.
I'm just soldering another one (again...) by the way...
My favorite fuzz actually, can go from buzz to real overdrive.
the unbiased germanium preceded by diode way of fuzzing is a very unique and underestimated feature.

Might just test it with an opamp in front...

I see.

So it's a complicated voltage divider in the buzzaround, except at the extremes of the pot.  that's odd.

AFAIK, this a knock-off of the tonebender mkIII.

I think it could be the other way around...   Baldwin (Baldwin Burns Buzzaround)  owned burns from 65' and quit the business 68' so this is the time when the Buzzaround was in the market. Solasound came out with the MKIII in 68'.

Question for anyone who's built one of these...how well do they clean up with the guitar volume rolled down?  I've rediscovered the 3-knob Tonebender I built and I quite like the overall tone, it just doesn't do that "rolled off Fuzz Face" thing.

Thanks!

don't know how well it cleans up, but it sure does sound good full blast!  i made mine without any trimpots and it biased fine.  matter of fact iirc, i think one of the pots takes care of bias.
