People.     Pierre O. posted he liked the stock BMP with a compressor and OD before it.     So if you change the diode clipping gain stages with bypassing the 100 ohms with jumpers in the two diode feedback ones you might be changing the tone more and maybe not in a good way(maybe good for someone else but maybe not in this case).
The post of mine about removing one of the feedback networks might also change the sound as well but it is about more gain before the diode clipping stages
Maybe the added gain before the first BMP gain stage is clipping that stage and ADDING  more distortion before the stock two gain stage diode clipping setup and a built in OD is what is needed for the tone wanted..

Fuzz/distortion/overdrive is sometimes all about pre and post EQ and how the gain is set in each section.  Where the gain is is often important.  So adding gain at the clipping section might be the answer because Pierre O. posted liking an OD before the BMP

Pierre O. what OD do you use?

I use right now a MI Audio Blues Pro to boost the Muff, sometimes a Carl Martin Hot Drive and Boost. Both are slightly more neutral and organic sounding TubeScreamers.

Why not a simple boost stage--like Gus's OD or Yun's Rocket Boost, which IIRC he designed for this very purpose. You can build that right in; I'd like to see you do that with a Carl Martin pedal :)
