ggg octavia octave/fuzz switch

Hey I just did the fuzz/fuzz octave switch mod that I found here http://www.fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/octavia.php .    So I took the end of the diode thats by the transformer and carfully took it out from the PCB, and put a piece of wire in its place and arched the other end to the spst toggle. Then I took another piece of wire attached it to the diode and then to the other lug on the switch. went to try it out and I really dint hear any difference when I switch the toggle, I am wondering first if I did the mod right, or if I might have busted the diode, or is the toggle bad? I did use the serch but didnt really find anything

Disconnect one of the wires from the toggle that should definitely give you just fuzz. If it does then you must have a problem with the switch your wiring or the diode.

thats how i wired the mod. is it big enuf for you to read or shall I make it bigger?

A number of us here have reported that the Octavia does not always deliver as obvious an octave as we expected.  Some, such as myself and a few others, have found much better control over the octave by inserting a small-value fixed resistor (<1k] between the 1k Boost pot and the 100uf electrolytic cap shown (which is actually a smaller value, but that is neither here nor there for this particular matter).

I mention this because the roblem many of us reported was that all the octaving "lived" in the lowest part of the Boost setting, and that full-blown distortion withut any discernible octave came a little too easily, compared to our expectations.  Perhaps the reason you aren't hearing the octave disappear is because there wasn't any to begin with.  Try sticking a 220-470R resistor between the large-value cap and the pot, and see if the toggle you installed begins to make an audible difference.

I can hear the octave its just not to noticable you really hear it when  I do double bends, I wanted the toggle so I could hear just fuzz, I have fuzz octave the toggle didnt get rid of the octave which is what I wanted to do so I could have a fuzz till I build my fuzz face.
