How do you orient your jacks? Which goes to the left of the box, and which to the right? Or do you use a different setup?

In general, the "standard" for stomp boxes is that the input (where the guitar connects) is on the RIGHT and the output is on the LEFT.

Everything else flows left to right, example READING.

Why did they have to make the standard for guitar fx opposite  :icon_cry:

Because a right handed guitarist has the cord coming out of the right end of the guitar. If it goes into the pedal on the right side, it's most out of the way for a right handed guitarist. If it went in on the left, it would have to cross over the pedal to the left side, and thereby be maximally in the way.

By the way, this is explained in my book "PCB Layout for Musical Effects".

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks, R.G.! I was wondering about this for my next build, in case anyone wanted to know.
