Hearthrob volume mod and problems

Hello All - long time no post,

Have just built the hearthrob (verobaord layout) care of nokstar



I removed R1 and R2 and replaced them with a 100k log volume pot which goes into the back of C1 and acts as a volume pot to get the level just right.

Also I changed R9 to 6.8k which is what I think it is supposed to be.

Only problem is the speed switch doesn't change the speed - it's stuck on slow mode I believe and the Depth doesn't seem to work after about 2 o'clock.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong (or if there is a mistake in the layout) I'd appreciate. I've checked all connections and that the caps are the right values and facing in the right direction.
