I've bought a ton of 1$ 118 ml. bottles of this acrylic paint that you can use for decoration (as they say on the bottle) in 1$ shops.  Tried to paint an enclosure after supper with no success.

The paint seems to be washable with dishwash soap after drying.  :(

It's made in Canada.  It's the first time that I try this type of paint (I mean, any tole paint).

Did some of you ever used this brand ?
I think it is perhaps more acrylic gouache (?)
I don't even find what is the meaning of tole in the french-english dictionnary...  is it decoration ?

If you used a brand (and where to get some)  of paint of the same type that "hold" well, could you tell me or suggest me a brand that hold well to the primer ?

Does someone know the brand of the one that Andrew use:

Also: I am using brushes.
Sorry for that much questions.
Thanks !

Yes, it will come off with soap and water.
The trick is to seal it with a clear finish such as enamel or polyurethane.
If you want to use a paint that is durable similar to zvex painted boxes use enamel model paint.

Salut Frank,

haaa i've lost my post...
ok repeat:

I've used that ''dollorama'' acrylic paint with good result:

But you definitly need to put a couple of clear coat on it...Acrylic being soluble in water! But you know that Mr. plastic specialist!  :P
Just a cue, try a plastic box, it stick better plastic box than on aluminium boxes. Plastic love plastic i bet...

Good night!

Dan

Thanks John for the suggestion.

So I guess, trying an other brand will do the same...

I don't want to do clear cut edges designs like Zvex do.  I just want to continue in the style of painting that I was doing on canvas when I was in arts (transparencies, brush strokes, etc...).  I am doing an other one with Liquitex Artist paint as I have a lot of them, but the box has rubber-gummy touch...

Maybe that with the clear polyurethane everything is going to "stick" under it.  Hope it is not going to peel.

I've used the Krylon brand in spray and it holds well.  Tomorrow I am going to spray it in a bottle and use it with a brush I think.

Salut Dan. and John.
