Darlington pair question

If you have 2 transistors of 50 hfe, and you configure them as a darlington pair, does the output of the pair equal 100 hfe? If not, is there a formula to figure out the output of the pair?

Using germaniums in this configuration will lead to the leakage being multiplied as well, correct? Will the result take on the combined leakage of the 2 transistors.

I have a large batch of low hfe/low leakage germaniums that I'd like to find a use for. Is adding resistance between any of the connections helpful in getting a more desirable result. Any other downfalls to this idea?
