Hi Guys

Been an avid learner of pedal mods now but recently picked up a TS9 dx and i hate it  :icon_lol:
i managed to mod it to true bypass with the help of Mr Robert Keeley's guide on this.
thing is i am trying to find some info on modding it but cant. any suggestions? i tried the monte allums mod but didnt like it as i felt it was more suited for bass guitar.
anyone ever modded these before?

What do you want to change about it?

The TS9dx rotary control for the +, turbo, hot, etc. gives you less drive and more headroom as you turn it from the bottom of it's rotation to the top.  It does this by having two diodes in the first option, four in the second, and two LEDs in the third.  I believe the forth option is no diodes.  As well as the diode changes, the rotary control also changes caps which roll off the bass.  So as you go through the options on the rotary control it progressively has more bass.  I think this is why a lot of people don't dig the extra modes.  Too much bass and flub.  Back to the point...  You can essentially strip down the first three stages of the rotary and build them back up as configurations that you think sound good.  For instance 1) make the first stage stock bass roll off and clipping diodes 2) make the second stage have asymmetrical clipping and a little bit lower bass roll off.  3) Maybe keep LEDs in the third stage but change the bass roll off to a little bit higher frequency to get rid of the flubby sound and tighten it up. (i removed a certain 470k resistor as well when i did this. hint hint, get a schematic)  4)  The forth stage has no diodes so just mess with the cap to get the bass roll off the way you like it.

Lot's of options on these things.  Do some searching here and on google to find the tips that are posted about this pedal.  It'll be required to fill in some of the blanks I left.  You might have to do a small bit of circuit tracing, but it isn't too terrible when you have an idea of what you're looking for.  Hint, all of the changes/options I mentioned are on the smaller board that's attached to one of the pots.  The one w/ the two LEDs on it...

Not sure why these things got such a bad reputation.  It's a chance to have different options on a TS for different situations IF you can get the modes the way you like them.

good luck.   :)
