Hi,
There's a new veroboard in my gallery, The MXR Noise Gate. Schematic and instructions can be found at www.tonepad.com. This is a tricky build, and it needs some tweaking to get it to work as intended. Be sure to read up on build reports att www.tonepad.com and
on this forum. It's a good idea to socket R3, R10, R15and C1 for experimentation. I used 1.8K for R15, the original value of 1M didn't work at all for me. Match the HFE:s of your
BJT:s, and your gating will be a lot smoother. I did the mods for attack, release and attenuation control, but you really don't need those. Maxing out attack and decay gives a semi-cool swell effect, though...
There's a sound clip in my gallery. Pretty hard to demo a noise gate - I played one note through the bridge pup of a strat in front of a CRT monitor so you can hear the gate in action.
All in all, a good build. Built and boxed in a day. Do your homework on this one, or it most probably won't work.
