Reverse Audio Taper Pot Question

I am building a Tonebender clone and have a 5KL pot. I have read the Secret Life of Pots and did some searching around and I just want to make sure that I understand things correctly. In a Tonebender (or FF for that matter) can I just toss a resistor (or about 1.8K or so) across the two outer legs of the fuzz pot and get an approximation of a 1K Reverse Audio pot? Does the cap to ground change anything significant (like tone)? Thank you.

Yes, that setup should work fine as a reverse audio taper pot.
The cap should not be affected, or affect the circuit negatively.

Here's a nice thread on the subject.

And I read that a few weeks ago! Sorry for the redundant question, but thanks for confirming what I thought I knew!!

No problem...
One thing you can do is put another temporary 5k pot in parallel with the 5k
fuzz pot and fool around with different settings of the temp pot to get the best taper/feel of the control.
Then measure the temporary pot and replace it with a fixed resistor of the value you measured.
