im alittle confused on the tone pot thing. any one got a picture or drawing?

ok wired it up doesnt work.
this is how its wired..
in to lug 3
lug 2 to cap
cap 2 to ground
lug 1 to out

lug 1 to out

 Put a cap from SP to Gnd. use big enough cap you can hear that HF's have been shunted to a large degree.
 Now put a resistance between the cap and ground, large/small enough to mostly control how much of the HF's are shunted by changing the R value.
 A pot wired as VR [variable resistor] uses the wiper and an outside lug [test with dmm].
 The basic configuration is C/R. Signal path goes through the seriesed cap and resistor.

not sure what you are talking about. whats the SP?

what cap would i use to roll off treble? i have 0.01 uf and 0.1 uf caps.
sorry about this but can some one draw this on PS or paint?
would i have the cap going into lug 3 from the wire going to the volume pot then lug 1 to ground and lugs 2 and 1 connected?

The cutoff is calculated by the formula Fc=1/2*pi*r*c

Your potentiometer is 100k so that value also provides lowest Fc (Cutoff frequency, the frequency( in Herz) where the volume will start to roll off)
you have a 10n and a 100n cap.

The values need to go into the formula without suffix so:

100k = 100000
100n = 0.0000001
10n =0.00000001

we put the 100k and the 100n into the formula to se what we'll end up with

Fc=1/2*3.14*100000*0.0000001=15.9

16Hz is subaudio. Much to low.
If we use the 10n cap instead we get 160Hz. As these are the two values you've got, use the 10n.

also if any one has any ideas for a mod or improvement you can post them. the box that it is in now is very small but i have one more 100k pot that is about the size if a dime. Its not a trim pot. Maybe a simple gain of fuzz.

well it works but when i put the treble up the signal dies. Is that from it putting all the sound into the ground? Sounds realy raunchy. about the volume loss of putting a tone in, the volume goes down alot but when the volume is all the way up the level is the same as the bypass.

If you direct all of the signal to ground, then that is what you get. You have measuring equipment.

This last quoted sentence doesn't make sence to me. Neither from engineering, nor from linguistic, point of view...     ::)
The volme goes down when you put in a tone?     ???
If you used the SWTC solution the volume out should drop to 50% p-p. This is however also dependent on what comes after the unit.
If you are driving an amp with low impedance then the signal will decrease further.
