Looks like it would make wiring a bit easier and cleaner.

You can buy it in a lot of places.  Basically, any place that carries the connectors you would use it with is likely to also carry the cable too.  There are two problems with your search, though.  First, with the advent of USB in so many peripherals, cable/connectors for traditional parallel port and serial port cables are becoming rarer.  Second, having worked for many years with ribbon cable like what you show, for exactly the same purpose you seek (connecting boards with pots, etc), I have to say it is not nearly as workable as you might think.  If you have some sort of commercial wire-stripping device for ribbon cable, fine, but using wire strippers or nippers intended for single wires to strip this stuff is a royal PITA.  Plus, the wire itself tends to be thin and easily fracture, and the insulation is generally not intended for use in soldering, or at least in hobbyist-type soldering.  The cable itself is meant to be used with multi-tooth crimp-style connectors where no heat ever touches the cable/insulation.

So, while a great many of us look at it and think "Yeah!!", having tried it out myself (and still having a wad of it in my box-o-cable-remnants), I am more inclined to say "Nah".

I second you on the "not intended for use in soldering".  I have tried this in the past and the insulation just keeps melting.   I have a few rolls of this,  my stuff is for making computer cables.      Use tie raps!

While it looks very cool the soldering factor puts me off of it, I too wanted to use this rainbow ribbon in all my builds but now I know it doesn't take well to heat I think I'll pass.

I bought an 'amount' from Maplin some years ago, I use it exclusively - never had any problems with it, in synths or stompboxes. I think it can make for very tidy builds. Maplin don't sell it anymore - and I'm running low. So I need a supplier too.

It was actually your builds that gave me the want. Let me know if you find any on the cheap :icon_mrgreen:

Mouser PN 82-22-6106. Not cheap though.

Yikes... a bit more then I'd ever spend on wire. Thanks though.
