I can't seem to find 12v center negative at least 300ma for my valvecaster pedal.

Where do you guys order?

also, in local store, i found center positive one. I just though can i cut the wire and resolder other way around to reverse the polarity?
Is it as simple as that??

Yes, it is. Be careful to insulate the joints well, and check your work with a multimeter afterwards.

There are also polarity-changer adapters. At least one of these is available from dealers who stock the Visual Sound 1Spot product. I'm sure there are others.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

order?
You simply grab one out of the box of adapters from old cordless phones, radios, toys or other long thrown away appliances and attatch correct adapter from radio shack or other parts store.

I have the onespot 12v adapter, and I intend on using it for my valvecaster.

It's as quite as a... sleeping baby? I don't know, I can't think of an analogy.

hi, thanx for suggestion. so today i went to junk shop/thrift stores and i found a bunch of 12v 500ma negative center.

so i tried but it had a bad hum. went to back to the store and exchanged it and went home and still had a hum and again, went back, exchanged and tried. still had a hum.

i tried with my 9v and it has no hum totally fine so i have been getting non regulated bad power adaptor?

it seems like im the only one who has a hard time finding it.

if someone has a 12v 300ma or more center negative, i 'd buy it off you.

I have had good luck finding 12VAC and 12VDC wall warts at thrift stores. I have a few that I picked up here and there over the years just in case I might need one. It's only like 50 cents to a dollar to buy one.  :icon_razz:

Could you open up a non-regulated one and stick a regulator in there to stop the humming? or is it not as easy as that?

I have a hard time finding psu's here, and they're pretty expensive over here I find!

Sure, if there's room in there!
Carefully crack open the seal on the plastic case using a razor blade, then you could install a regulator and filter cap to "clean up" the supply and eliminate hum.

stuff a 9v regulator and some caps into a smallish plastic box with both in & out connectors and you have a filter/regulator for use with any of those noisy 12v adaptors

I've also done this. Or you could add filtering after our wall wart - a 100 ohm resistor in series with one leg of the power supply in conjunction with a 1000uF cap across the power supply. That usually kills any hum from a wall wart.

Sorry for the stupid question, but I'm quite new to all this still! but... just wondering if you could add those 100R and 1000uF cap onto the DC jack from inside the enclosure?
How would I do this?  Would be a great help and save me ~£15 that I don't have on a new psu!

(I'm running an un-regulated 18V centre positive into my Clone Theory, which currently has a 78L09 - originally had a 78L15 but it hummed, and it still hums so I'm pretty sure it's the psu!)

Thanks!
