ive finally built the fuzz face with two Ge trannies 2sb170 and 2sb87 both measured 110hfe with a dmm [could be lower owing to high leakage]

never heard a fuzz face live so i wanna ask if mine sounds like a "normal" FF, heres a quick and dirty clip...
[i suck at guitar, i know  :icon_sad:]

most of the parts are played on a bridge humbucker... 1X12 cab to cheapo mic...

Look at it this way- everyone rags on air guitar here because everyone can play guitar.  If we were on a lawn mower forum, air guitar would be okay and they would ridicule air mowing.

Hi,

Sounds good to me.

Playing's not too shoddy either...   :icon_wink:

What size of input cap did you use, if I can ask?  Is this the 2.2uF?

sounds a lot brighter than mine, but that's not a bad thing:  http://www.naturalbornyoers.com/forumpics/fuzzace.mp3  (please excuse the sloppy playing  ;))

what kind of amp are you using?

I can't get your clips to work. I just keep getting a blank window.

thanks for the reply guys, ive been hoarding several old electronics shop for ac128's but theres none...
the setting for the fuzz control is where the 22u cap is shorted, that must be why its bright...

the input cap is 2.2uf, like the one on tonepad...

It might just be the transistors. mine are pretty low gain (hfes are 53 and 72). with some higher gain japanese transistors I achieved brighter results.

The nickel strings I used when I recorded my sample were worn out and dull sounding, so that's another factor....
