Well, i got my dynacomp pcb from a fellow forum member today so i wired up and it worked great, loved it.

this is going in my cornish board so i was tryin to see how the pcb would fit on the metal plate and well, all the solder joints touched the metal plate and the 9v was still plugged in.

no i have 0 sound. crap! what should i check/replace.

Thankfully the guy socketed the ic and transistors...ughhhhhh what a pain!

you will need to look at all polarized parts, specifcally the IC's and transistors.

thats what i figured.

what about the electrolytics? maybe do those last?

Paul Perry (Frostwave)

The 3080 is likeliest, if i were betting.

well you were right! i dug through my parts bin knowing i had seen one somehere and low and behold i had another ca3080e, popped it right into the socket and voila!

so, two lessons learned.

1) dont do what i did
2) always use sockets ----(thanks zedmin fx!)

it actaully seems quieter now though! the one i took out was CA3080E RCA 406, and i put in CA3080E RC 345

anyway this could be true, or am i hearing things?

Barcode80

probably both. there probably is a difference, but the perceived difference is probably greater than the actual difference.

Yea I learned about sockets while building my neovibe. I am glad you have got it working again.
