Questions about mounting more effects in one enclosure and bypassing

Hello,

Here the enclosures and the footswitches (especially) are very expensive, so i must to mount more effects in one enclosure.
I found in a local store some nice enclosures (Rocktron style), very cheap, in which i can to mount up to 3-4 effects (on the enclosure i can mount maximum 8 pots).
I'd thought to use a 2P6T rotary switch (i have 2 or 3 unused...) in this way:

- first pole switches between the outputs of the effects
- second pole swithces between the LEDs that indicates what effect is on.

This thing implies that:

- all the inputs of the effects are connected to the input jack all the time (in parallel)
- all the effects are supplied all the time (no problems about the consumption...)

Is this thing right or not (i think i must have some problems with the impedances)?

Second question is about bypassing, more accurately about using a DPDT for true bypassing:

- one pole switches between the input jack and the output of the effect
- second pole switches on/off the LED

Am i a genius or i am only stupid?   :)

Thx a lot all!

that is not true bypass. try a 3p4t rotary sw
bad thing is you cant only use one effect at a time

I wouldn't like to 'share' the input on all effects. You could solve this by having a buffer/splitter (check amz) in front. In that case your 2p6 idea could work. But it would mean you'd have just one effect on at a time.

Maybe digital or relais switching is an option for you?

However, outside of your question: I'd try to find a source for footswitches. Ebay, internet, local. They can be found for a decent price ;)

Thx a lot both of you cpm and Auke Haatsma.

For me it's not a problem that i can use only one effect at a time because i have more effects of same type in one stompboxes and it's hard to believe that it's possible to use more than one at a moment in time (for example i have in tha same box May Queen, Guild Foxey Lady, Sam Ash Fuzzbox, Jordan Bosstone and Muff Fuzz  :D)...

Anyway, i will try to use a splitter for the inputs.
