Can a Clean boost be used to match signal levels for rack equip?

Hello...

I have both a TC Electronics D-Two that I use in my guitar rig. right now I put it in the FX loop but its a pain because I use the Dynamic delay funtion, which relies on the input volume to determine the attack of the delay. So if I turn my amp up, it screws up all my presets. When I put it infront of the amp I had to CRANK to input on the D2 just to get barely back to normal, but then there was a ton of noise.

For that and a number of other reasons, I would like to put the D-two in my chain in-line with the amp. I have read that what I need to do is use a clean boost/buffer preamp to boost the volume of the signal into the unit, as sort of a level matching.

Any ideas/suggestions/schematics would be greatly . Here are some specs that may or may not be useful.

Impedance, bal/unbal ------------------21 kOhm / 13 kOhm
Max. Input Level   ---------------------+24 dBu
Min. Input Level for 0 dBFS --------------0 dBu
Sensitivity @ 12 dB headroom ----------12 dBu to +12 dBu

Impedance bal/unbal  --------------------40 Ohm
Max. Output Level -----------------------+20 dBu (balanced)
Output Ranges ---------------------------Balanced: 20/14/8/2 dBu  Unbalanced: 14/8/2 dBu

As I recall, I use the 2dBu output range as the others are VERY noisy. So basically i think what Im doing is cranking the input and backing way down on the output which i dont think is the best way to do it. Can/Should i also build something to use the balanced input/outputs? Thanks!!

after some research it appears this may be a job for the Adjusticator!

Has anyone made a PCB layout for this yet? Just wondering...

Isnt that a bad movie staring Steven Seagal?

Nope! Thats an R.G. original circuit! :icon_lol:

but yes your right thats what it sounds like. Im working on a layout for it right now but I'm not very good at that yet  :icon_rolleyes:
