my eh holy grail reverb pedal is noisy/hissy as can be. when i tap on the metal enclosure with a screwdriver, the tapping is amplified. does this mean i have bad grounding? i am using the supplied 9vdc 500ma adapter which oddly reads 12v on my dmm.
anybody have the same experience?

david,
most EH holy grails are notoriously hissy/noisy .  i don't think there's much you can do to lessen the effect

Yeah, it's a hissy pedal unfortunately...

Some have claimed that after buying the correct power supply the hiss disappeared, but as you've stated you are using the correct power supply. I bought a powersupply for mine and the hiss was still there, plus after about six months the power supply just died  :icon_frown:

a 9v adapter reads 12vdc when unloaded... use a regulated power supply... though it may only cure the hum.

no experience with EH holy grail...
Look at it this way- everyone rags on air guitar here because everyone can play guitar.  If we were on a lawn mower forum, air guitar would be okay and they would ridicule air mowing.

i had a Worm which is said to be also quite hissy. it takes 24v, but going down to 16v cleaned the hiss all the way

i just hate admitting defeat. aren't digital circuits supposed to be quiet and overly "perfect"? this really bugs me.
