What does the simple preamp at ax84 look like...anyone familiar with it able to give me some hints ?
I've got this noise maker here with a 33uf capacitor hung from a chassis mounted FWR, I wonder if I need more filtering to make the thing low noise...probably ?

I built the P1-EX from over there and it uses 4, 47uf's

Local filtering at each node is the key.

If I put this back together one day I'll try that.  that's probably it.
Any resistors inbetween those 4x47's ?
Might be a while before I get interested in it again.
Blind with backache [tables are not designed for tall people], the hum-pre got some heavy duty road testing which brought the hum out better.
Dummy here started with a partial schematic and pays the price for thinking...
You wouldn't happen to have a picture of those components with their values.
I don't know what I'm missing at ax84, but I have a partial schematic still, signing in, resetting password, hacking old password just brings conflicting messages in response there...the email address is not recognized or, the email address is recognized but is someone elses...??

If you look at the 2W SE poweramp under the Core Projects it shows the P.S. with the B5 and there are resistors between all of them.  If you want I can PM the PDf.

  Thanks, I'll take a look !
I bought out all the >10uf, <100uf / >250v caps the local source had.
  I now have [33uf > 10k > 2 x 33uf] as filter section, and that's doin' a trick, dropped the floor way down, I can work with it !
Sounds great, the 'I only need a little dab' theory turns out to be real nice, the Simple Preamp takes my amp that was 'close' to 'there', the Baja Tele now talks and chirps and sings ... REEVAH REEVAH ! ! !
