A new version which is more similar to Arsenio's original drawing.
I used a pair of matched NPN PNP silicons.
This version now has distortion, octave up and booster by simple changing the base bias.

Thanks Arsenio... wherever you are!

Hey, pedis mucho!!! :D

I forgot to say that drive should be lowered when on octave mode.

Who says there is nothing original out there? Looks like a very odd Bazz Fuss variant, but very cool. I wonder if other NPN/PNP pairs would work, like 2n3904/3906 or 2n5088/5087? Thanks.

IIRC this design dates from 95 - 96. And it is like a Bazz Fuss. Or the BF like this...
I recently posted a circuit, a mixture between this and the BF,

The tuning condition for distortion is that the PNP base current is zero, so its base-emiter path is just like the BF diode. IIRC, one could replace the PNP with a diode with bias adjustment.
