Hey all,

I just built or tried to build the GGG Boutique 3 knob Tonebender.  The build instructions show it wired without LED and true bypass.  I tried to wire it for LED and true bypass according to the diagram for 3PDT from the wiki, but it's not working.  Has anyone built this box with LED and true bypass and has any words of wisdom?

Thanks!

Can be a great sounding circuit.

The switch can be tested along with it's wiring using a DMM or an audio probe.

I built it, RG's words of wisdom are found in sticky: DEBUGGING - What to do when it doesn't work
Every mark on the schematic, some can be checked in groups [while checking resistor from 'distant-est' point, other wires and their connections are also tested]..every mark including the little arrows in the transistors [indicating B/E diode polarity] and every resistor value.
If the switch needed turned 1/4 turn to be oriented correctly and was wired up according to diagram, that problem should soon become apparent with a DMM testing of signal flow.
Testing the board and taking notes before adding all the switches and jacks and box to it sometimes makes for an easier debug and a less stressed build.

When troubleshooting try pulling the switching/bypass part out of the circuit -- i.e. temporarily wire it in "always on" configuration.  This will help you determine if your build is buggy or if switching/bypass section is buggy.

Be patient.  I've had several builds not fire up right away, causing me to spend significant time debugging, which sometimes doesn't lead anywhere, causing me to stomp away in frustration because I've checked every friggin' thing I know how to check...

Then I come back to it a day or two later, quickly see an obvious (but previous unnoticed error), fix it, and all is happy again.

And then I start a new build, and the cycle repeats.

Hey All

thank you so much for the help!  There is some good advice here.  Blunder thanks a trilion for that link. That did the trick and now I've got the pedal up and running like a charm.  Bipedal also thanks for the good advice about taking the switch out of the equation. One problem I have is that I don't understand what the lugs on the 3pdt switch correspond too. It seems that the left row and the right row are on and off, per say, but I'm unsure about the middle row because the LED is always wired to the middle yet it doesn't always stay on (obviously).

That could help you understand the switch. Once you see it, it becomes rediculously simple  :)

  Glad to hear it.
