Resistor replacement on the TS-808?

Hey guys.

Quick question... I have *assloads* of resistors, and I realized I don't have any 510k's for the TS-808 from tonepad.
Should it work to replace them with 470k?  (that's the closest I have?)  or should I put in an order for some 510k's?
Needed a 2nd distortion for a gig this weekend and was really looking forward to using this, but RS doesn't have 510k's and if I do an order it won't be here by friday Im assuming.
yep.  Just lemme know what ya think

There's an on-going similar thread like yours buddy. Your answer is also be here.

Yes it will work. You can also put 2 resistors in series to get 510K if you really wanted to.

Those resistors are not part of tone-shaping anyway.

Keep tolerances in mind, too.  If you just blindly plunk 5% resistors in, consider that an "official" 510k could be as low as 484.5k, and an equally "official" 470k could be as high as 493.5k.  I don't think that Ibanez or Maxon ever made any attempts to assure that those 510k resistors would not be any other than 510k on the nose.  So, if the possibiity of 483k5 was good enough for them (although, admittedly, parts at the boundaries of the tolerance spec are less likely), it ought to be good enough for you, right?

Thanks Aron, and Thanks Mark.

I always forget about the tolerance thing.
Good thing to keep in mind, but yes...most things are "good enough for me" lol
usually, if i actually get sound to come out, no matter what it sounds like, it is a victory =D

thanks again

Hi
Easyest  way is to use Ohm law to parallel or serie connect what you have to get what you want

serel  R1+R2=Rtot
Parallel 1/R1+1/R2=1/Rtot
