i was in my local lidl today and they have adhesive aluminum tape the size of duct tape for about £1.40 might be good for shielding for those who use non metal enclosures

I used to buy rolls of the stuff from garden centres.  Always cheaper.  Granted, not as cheap as Lidl...but I'll give the Scientologists a miss me thinks!

Well, I'm not sure if it's just an urban myth.  My German cousin mentioned it to my mum once (she doesn't give a crap and shops there regardless).  If you google it you'll get loads of hits from German sites, but nobody on them seems to have any proof (from what I read).

The rumour persists, though. Urban myth started by a competitor?  Probably BS.

I went in today to see about some of that tape. Unfortunately they didn`t have any but on the way out a nice salesperson informed me of their amazing frequent shopper offer.

Seems all you have to do is give them 10% of all your earnings and you receive ever-lasting life or something. Sounds good.

I also received a free "auditing". Apparently I`m a Preclear. Who`d have known!!*

They sell the same tape here in the states its used in duct work. A tube amp book I have says aluminum chassis for amps does nothing in respects to shielding. Do know if it applies to tape. But it would have to be grounded to have any real effect I would imagine. I know my epi vjr has some sort of aluminum tape in places but it has limited coverage and isnt grounded. Many strats come with some sort of aluminum tape on the back of pickguards. But its more of a cheap ground than shielding as its only on the pickguard.

Lol! used to live in Germany, the local supermarket used to let the turkish tramps take what they wanted, otherwise they would start trouble! (not calling the turks tramps BTW, These actually were tramps! 'homeless')!

Vagrant protection racket...reminds me of a tramp I once saw in Newcastle.  He picked up an apple from the stall of a greengrocers, said to the owner 'Alright?...Alright?', took a bite out of it then buggered off.  The shop owner just did that thing of dropping his shoulders whilst sighing simultaneously.

Im in ireland and get this stuff from b and q. works on the insides of guitars.

€6 ish a role but worth it. sheild 2 strats with one role. havent used it in a pedal but im sure it would work fine too and they always seem to have it in stock. thats my tip for the day.

people always wanna know why i have slug repellant tape on my workbench. I tell them it keeps the slugs out of guitars.

Hmm! Slugs you say. I have it on good authority that , if wrapped around your body, this same tape can be used to ward off " body thetans".
