I know this is a ross/dynacomp derivative- does anyone know what the 'trim' or 'clipping' function does?

From his site:

"The C4 four-knob Compressor, Sustain and Level just like all other compressors, but the Intput Clipping and Attack controls are now on top for easy adjustment. Perfect for high output guitars, bases, line level instruments, recording, etc."

1 - the spelling mistake on 'Input' is from his site, it ain't me ma...
2 - from how I read it, the 'Input Sensitivity' trim, which must be some sort of input level control, and the 'Attack' trim, that are both in the 2 knob version, are simply taken out to the panel and made full sized.

The manual (http://www.robertkeeley.com/manuals/keeley_compressor.pdf) explains it.

Yeah, that's what I assumed too.  The attack control I'm sure is just a potentiometer version of the attack control that I have on my ross (changes the 150k resistor that charges...um, some capacitor, which, uhhh... . . . changes the attack) which I heard of from Mark Hammer.  But I am interested in what the possibilities of knob #4 can do.  Does anyone know if it's just a control that limits the amout of signal going into the circuit?  Essentially like turning down the volume on your guitar?

as keeley has described it, that sounds correct.  If you're getting clipping when using this comp, you can turn it down at the input.

sorry for the old thread, but how would you go about adding this to the input? can i just put a 10k pot in the place of the 10k resistor that goes into the input tranny? thanks

One Dyna's 'strong' is anothers 'too clunky', input control also affords another angle on the signal the comp 'reads' [use guitar or previous output volume control to try out decreased input effect on the comp/gain control.
