A better way to mix clean and effected?

Hi there. I built an electro-harmonix pulsar and everything is working great EXCEPT the depth control. When cranked (max depth) the effect works as I want it. But when you back off the depth, the signal weakens considerably and sounds very unnatural. I have tried to fix this to no avail, and so I'm trying another approach. I'm going to change the depth pot to a fixed resister and build a runoffgroove splitter blend inside the pedal, with the tremelo inside one loop and nothing inside the other. My question is: PLEASE tell me theres a better way to do this!!! All I want to do is mix between tremelo effect and clean signal! Also if I end up building the splitter blend, which of the buffers can i ignore if one loop is only clean signal?
