Probably some of you have done this in the past already, but today i was looking around home and found this old cellphone chargers (for old nokias) and i saw it has an output of 5.7 volt at 800 ma!!, well i though about using it as a diy power supply for 9 volt effect... So using a voltage doubler like this one http://www.hobbyprojects.com/the_diode/voltage_doubler.html  i could get something around 12 volt right?.

My idea is basically keeping the transformer (and doing the voltage doubler then rectyfying and filtering), would this work? i already built a ggg ultra clean power supply but my transformer is way too bulky... this one is much smaller and has the same power :P.

Would this work? what values should i use for the caps? around 220 uf perhaps?

Edit: if you tell me this is doable i'll breadbor it and let ya know how it went

Aren't those switching supplies, i.e. not isolated from mains?
