i saw a post recently with some reviews of different suppliers, some i havent checked out and decided to take a look.  one in particular i found some cool enclosures.
i noticed this one, http://www.mpja.com/prodinfo.asp?number=16283+BX

seems very close to the 1590A but dimensions are a little tighter.  but the price difference seems worth trying out.
also theres a 4.49" X 2.52" X 1.18" box thats close to the 1590B, but the price seems closer to smallbear or pedal parts.  there might be other interesting stuff on their site but just noticed the extremely cheep knock off of the 1590A and thought id pass the info along to those who might be interested  :)

The 3.15" X 2.17" X 0.98" box is intriguing, it'd fit BB box sized circuits if one skipped the battery:

yeah they look decent.  but their shipping is $8, so i guess youd have to get enough stuff to make it count :(

Pedal Parts Plus is very competitive and they offer a great variety of powder coat options for a reasonable fee. When I found them I stopped painting my own. Buying a can of paint is more than their charge unless you intend to make a bunch of boxes the same color. Actually it's worth the two bucks not to do it myself. Not only that, but the finish is excellent and more durable than anything I could do. I've always been happy with their service as well.

The only downside are the amazingly high shipping costs to europe... Small Bear charges 12 dollar max for an enclosure, PPP asks 26.....

I ordered two breadboards, five rolls of desoldering braid, a mini soldering station with a replacement handle and four extra tips, a pin vise, a 3PDT toggle, and 22 DPDT toggles from MPJA.

Shipping was $8.81. Then again, I'm only one state away.

Oh, and by the way, the desoldering braid sucks.

If you're not doing it for yourself, it's not DIY. ;)

Can anyone speak for the Teko enclosures? http://www.tekoenclosures.com/enclosures/alu-boxes.htm

I'd probably not use them for anything I'd be using regularly, where the extra dollars on a hammond or the like is worth it, but for the occasional build that I'm not sure I'll bother soldering up, the price and ease of these boxes could put me over the edge if they are any good.

That AL 3/B.1 is 4.055"x2.894"x1.693" = slightly deeper than 125B, slightly wider, and not as deep - a little more square.  Could be useful for just under $5 per - can anyone vouch for these?
Breadboard it!

Can't say I've ever used them or seen them until now, but they look a lot like the Demeter enclosures:

Teko enclosures are not really strong... I did need to put some pieces of wood inside to make them 'stomp-able'...

I have to say that teko enclosures are really good. Well, not as sturdy as hammond boxes, but definitely stomp-able. They're really easy to drill and for that price you can't get nothing better (here in europe hammond & eddystone are more expensive than in the us).

I like some of these sloped enclosure designs, especially the PULTb300.  I realize with the plastic base, it will need some extra reinforcement to make it stomp-able, but it would look pretty sweet.

Save yourself some heartache and DO NOT get these:  http://www.mpja.com/prodinfo.asp?number=16283+BX  I believe those are Deltrons (which you can get through Mouser.)  I may be wrong, but at least from the pics they look identical.

I bought a few and they're junk.  They must have zero quality control in place.  The only consistent things about them were the warped enclosures or back lids.  Only 1 out of 5 were OK.   >:(

I prefer the Bud CU-123's for those size boxes.  Cheaper than Hammonds and I like the way they look.

I'm with you on the Bud CU / econobox series!  They don't have all the sizes, but lately their prices on mouser have been hard to turn down.

I've pretty much been sticking to 1590S and 1590C sizes, in which case I've liked the cost/quality ratio of the Bud CU-234 and CU-471, respectively.  They are near exactly the same size, and a good 'middle of the road' between the NS series version and the Hammond versions.  the 'C' size has even been cheaper than the comparable NS 1690 by a fair margin when 'price shopping' for recent orders.  They are made in Taiwan, however, and not by our friendly neighbors to the North like the Hammond boxes are--which is my only complaint.    :)
Breadboard it!

Teko's are quite easy to find here in Italy...As it is an italian company!!!
I used one for my first Valvecaster, which I still use and stomp on without trouble...
