I can't seem to find a BC 169 transistor from Mouser or Small Bear.  Does anyone know of a good replacement?  Thanks

I hope this is the right one, because that's what I put in mine.  Haven't tested yet though.

Fuzzcentral claims to use a 2n5089. And GGG says 2N3904, 2N5089 or 2N5088 can be used. The BC169 is available just not easy to find. DOnt know how the well the workalike will do.

Howdy,

Is it for a Scrambler? If so, from my experience it's not too critical, just use something medium gain. The BC169 datasheet says HFE is 200-800. The B version would be in the middle of that range. I think I used a BC549B and it biased and sounded fine. It would be best to use as low noise transistor as you can get in the right gain range too. BC549, 2N3904 should be OK.

Hope this helps.
