Definitely sounds like an interesting circuit, but I am a bit hesitant to build it.

I listened to the soundclips on the ROG page, and with the Tonemender engaged, there is bass cut in every example. is there only bass cut with this pedal? or is the bass boostable?

Yes, you can turn up the Bass control and have a bass boost.  Unfortunately, the clips don't accurately convey the flexibility of the circuit.

I highly recommend this build if you need an EQ - very versatile - you will find the sound you're looking for.

I like it a lot as well, lots of flexibility and boost available

jonathansuhr

Ok, I decided I'm going to build it but.. need some part replacement verifications.

Can I use 2.2M resistor at the input instead of 10M? And TLC2262 shouldn't be too much noisier than the TLC2272, correct?

This looks like a candidate for my bsiab2 box!

Yes, TLC2262 and 2M2 will be fine substitutes.

Was going to junk mine as well until I found out it sounds killer on a cheap SS amp.

Hope I'm not hijacking this thread but was wondering...would you use this in place of a tone stack or in addition to? I'm wanting to use this in my BSIABII.

This can be used in place of the tone stack if you want, or you can use it in addition to, it is all up to you.  I would probably use it in place of a stock tone stack, however.

In a BSIAB you can remove the 'high-low-pass-bmpish' tonestack and replace it with the passive portion of the tonemender.  The question is: will you have enough output left over?  I think yes, but you may have to add another gain stage.

Hmmm....I was hoping to use the whole circuit as is. was planning to simply place the entire circuit immediately after the dc blocking capacitor at the last transistor stage in the bsiab2.

It's a cool EQ for sure

You could totally do that.  But if you're going to take the entir circuit as is, you could make the switching indepentent and use it as a boost too if you wanted.  Or make it a separate pedal and put both in an fx loop.  Regardless, yeah- you can do that.

I'm resurrecting this old thread because I recently built the tonemender - which I love - but also notice that it doesn't do much in the bass department. In fact, I barely notice the bass knob doing anything at all. Is this typical, or have I screwed something up?

punkin

Yeah mine was a little weak there too but all in all very happy with it.

My bass control works quite well. So maybe there is something wrong with your circuit.
