I was thinking about building one of these, but the opamp/transistors/opamp makes the layout seem like it could be tricky.
Anyone worked up a perfboard layout for it?

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

he already has the pcb, couldn't you model a perf after it? i suppose you couldn't board mount the switch as easily, but you could wire it.

It's kind of big and has an opamp 'wrapped around' the transistor center.
The type of thing that probably signifigantly improves after a layout is well-looked at and re-arranged a few times.

OLCircuits.com sells a full kit of a Big Cheese-based circuit or you can purchase just the PCB.  It's called the Chunky Cheese there.

yeah, i think if i remember R.G. or J.D. (I think RG did that one) was trying to replicate the original configuration of the old board.
