Hi to all,

i'm planinng to build a three effect box (something similar to a H&K Tubeman, with three mutually exclusive switchable channels)...

I'm now working on the single channels: 1) clean (will be a fetzervalve) 2) crunch (a marshavalve) 3) lead/dist (drboogey or shaka express)...

I'm a beginner, and i'm having fun in prototyping the three channels at the moment.

When they will be ready, how do i do to make the three sounds mutually switchable ? I mean, i want that stomping on each channel i activate only the assigned effect..

It's not clear to me how do i wire such a switching behaviour ? Do i have to use some of 3pdt switch ? Or is there some trick that could be better ?

If this is possibile, can i have a block schematic of the switches wiring ?

Does anyone has built something similar ?

Also, is it possibile to make these effects to be used as a preamp (that is, running them directly into the return of a power amp).. ?

Thanks very much in advance, have a nice Easter

The footswitch logic in the Geo multi vol article could be adapted to be an exclusive effect on/off switch, you'd hook up the a, b, c outputs to control some analog switches.  It'd take some learning about cmos logic chips, but that's super handy to know as an electronics person of any kind.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea to me, tell us all how it goes. Wish I had some suggestions to offer you in the way of switching, but I've actually been wondering the same thing about switching. If all else proves to be impractical, you could try switching between two primary channels, one clean, and one dirty, and having the dirty section be able to switch between the crunch and distortion circuits.
