Also try leds, if you want to marshallise your sound... sounds great in the TS, and makes de Rat less fuzzy...

3 different clipping possiblities.  ;)

If you used an On/On/On switch instead on an On/Off/On would you'd get both clipping styles in the middle position, right?

There are several threads about mosfets as clippers, do a search. I made a rat with a switch between LEDs and mosfets, and I couldn't tell the difference at all. I suppose it has to do with what Mark Hammer calls "proximity to clip" (again, search). Some more research made me think that the character of mosfets are more apparent when they are in the feedback loop. So I tried that, and I must say I really like what that did to my rat! I have a DPDT switch that switches between LEDs to ground in one position and mosfets in the feedback loop in the other. Nice variation, in my opinion.

(body diode mode)     (MOSFET mode)
D─┬──────               D─┬──────
G─┘                  or       G─┘
S────|◄──               S────►|──

I think that's right. Body-diode mode sounds nice in a TS.
