Hi,
You Guys Rule!!! I hate to be a bother but I have built 2 kits and I want to build one from a schematic.
I am going to build the Bobtavia http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/bobEZ.jpg
I've got all the parts but I'm wondering about the cap in the upper left .0022uf all I could find is .022uf. mylar cap.
Is that a 200uf electrolytic cap in between the transformer and the amp? I'm not sure what the negative signs are saying.
Would you ever solder the LM386 or should I find a socket?
I am going to try to put this on vero board. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

That would roll a bunch more bass off when the knob is turned toward that way, adding seriesed capacitor to a capacitor makes a smaller value...

The transformer coil connects then to ground the chip gets a + supply, so the capacitor - should be to the transformer [and should never be reverse polarized: have it's - side more positive than it's + side]
Would you ever solder the LM386 or should I find a socket?
Only twice, and that was right before I figured out I burnt the Lm386 chip soldering it into perfboard, before that I fried a 386 trying to attach wires to the pins, I always use a socket now.
I am going to try to put this on vero board. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
  I'll bet there's a vero-layout for this one, I'd look for one.
  Cool sounding circuit, Bob.
Count the # of connections at each node, noting and polarity markings on any components for that node.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Thank you!
I will keep looking for a .0022 mylar cap.
I am so grateful there is a forum with quality people like yourself.
YOU RULE!!!

Thanks for the bump on this.

I have a *sort of* Bobtavia I was never happy with the sound of.

Looking at this layout, I can see why - I have bits missing.

Houston, we may be looking at a rebuild...

Cheers...

Look at the output jack, that can't be correct. The tip is not connected. The ring connection should be to tip.

You don't have to worry too much about the .0022 cap. Anything around that will work to cut the tops off the sound and make the octave work better.

Caps in parallel add up so two .001's in parallel will work as will four 470pf caps together in parallel.

.0022uf = 2200pf

Caps in series work like resistors in parallel, math wise, so two 0047's in series will add up to .0022. Incidentally the film caps are usually marked 202.
Monkey see, monkey do.

LOL! How could I have missed that. I was going to use a mono jack out and would probably have hooked it up right but it's strange to have missed something like that.
Thank you!

O.K.
I finally got it together and I must say, this pedal is really cool! I wasn't sure what to expect and I'm not disappointed.

I really wouldn't have wanted to try to put this together without your help.
YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

Sorry, I'm trying to figure out how to get a clickable thumbnail.

That's one hell of a good looking box.

Nice job.

What does the switch between the pots do please?

Thank you,
I was clicking around in the gallery and I accidentally found this
I  went back and couldn't find it again.
It seems to be some kind of out of control octave changer. It has a buzz that you kind of have to turn the gain till the guitar is heard in the buzz and then it seems to change the octaves several times. The guy that modded it says it sound like Pink Floyd Echoes. Maybe I'm not using it right.
